NSW Home Energy Saver Program: Interest-free loans for solar and battery customers

What we know so far

On the 17th June 2026 the NSW government introduced the Home Energy Saver Program; a 0% interest free loan for solar, batteries and other renewable energy upgrades amongst households across the state.

“I thought 0% interest loans already existed from solar companies?”

“My solar system I purchased last year has interest-free terms!”

Wrong.

Prior to this announcement a vast number of solar retailers were being sneaky with the way they sold their systems. Retailers would advertise that they were offering interest free loans however would ultimately be paying the interest themselves to the third-party lender and adding it on to the customers quote. What really should have cost the customer $8K + interest, was actually advertised as $20K with 0% interest on the loan!

Most of the time the total price was inflated even greater because the idea of having an ‘interest-free loan’ was too good to be true!

Another dodgy sales tactic used by retailers…

Enter the Home Energy Saver Program. NSW’s new initiative to lower the upfront cost of solar and batteries for eligible households state-wide.

  2. The upgrade is performed by a NETCC Approved Seller

What is a NETCC Approved Seller?

A NETCC Approved Seller is an Australian retailer of renewable energy technologies—such as solar panels, batteries, and EV chargers—that has been accredited under the New Energy Tech Consumer Code. [1, 2]

This accreditation means the business has committed to the highest consumer protection standards across the entire customer journey.

Participating finance providers will only engage NETCC Approved Sellers to ensure all installations are upgraded to the highest standard possible.

EnergyFlo Renewables is an Australian owned and operated NETCC Approved renewable energy company that specialises in solar, batteries, EV charging & more.
